May 19, 2008 So much has happened since my last update. I was dealing with some pretty heavy issues in my personal life and went on a 2 month hiatus. But during this time a lot of good things and recognition were happening to my work. "Evanescent Revolutions" was included in the 60x60 mix, which will be performed throughout the US. My piece was one of the only acoustic pieces, everything else is electronic (even though my piece sticks out like a sore thumb, it's good to stand out from the flock). My chamber orchestra piece "Coalescence" premiered and closed the new music festival in Santa Cruz, it was a great performance - even a few people teared up during my piece (I hope that's a good thing). "Transient Reflections" was chosen in the Seattle Pianist's Collective competition and will be premiered on June 1, 2008 at the Seattle Arts Center. I am pretty excited about it and will be flying out there later this month. I will be busy over the next few months writing my first piano concerto for the Paris International. I don't want to reveal too much but it is a further step into my new musical language. ~NV |
